S. Maw, Son & Thompson Cherry Toothpaste Lidded Pot
Available is an S. Maw, Son & Thompson ironstone cherry toothpaste lidded pot. S. Maw, Son & Thompson was a prominent British medical and pharmaceutical manufacturer based on Aldersgate Street, London. Likely circa 1870 to 1901. The product was called "Cherry" toothpaste strictly due to its deep pink color, which was achieved by adding carmine dye. It was actually formulated with ingredients like chalk, essential oils, and soap, rather than a fruit flavor. This pot has been recovered from a Victorian dump site. No chips or cracks.
