Cooper & Co Cream Pot
Available is an antique Cooper & Co. stoneware cream pot, originating from Glasgow, Liverpool, and London, likely dating to the early 1900s. Cooper & Co. was one of the most successful and innovative grocery and tea merchant chains in Scotland. The company was founded in Glasgow in 1871 by Thomas Bishop, a 24-year-old traveling tea salesman from Carlisle. Because Bishop's aunt, Lilias Cooper, provided the necessary startup capital, he named the company after her as a tribute. The company's classic logo-depicting a cooper constructing a wooden barrel-was chosen as a direct visual play on his aunt's surname.
