Antique French Mustard Pot

This is an antique French ironstone Moutarde de Maille (mustard) pot likely dating from the late 1800s or early 1900s.  Founded by Antoine Maille in 1747, Maille is one of France's oldest and most prestigious mustard houses.  The French translates to "Maille Mustard, Vinegar Maker Distiller, Supplier to the Leading Courts of Europe, Paris."  These jars were typically manufactured by the historic French pottery company Diagoin & Sarreguemines and shown by the stamp on the bottom.  This pot has been recovered from a Victorian dump site and is beautifully stained and crazed.

5 1/8" tall, 3" diameter
Weight .88 lb.

This is a vintage/antique, pre-owned item with normal wear due to its age.
