Antique Erasmic Shaving Cream Lidded Pot

This is an antique ceramic pot and lid for Erasmic Shaving Cream, c1910-1930.  The lid is not original, but fits.  Shaving pots from this era often contained solid soap pucks rather than modern cream.  The Erasmic Co. became globally synonymous with traditional, high-quality shaving soaps, sticks, and creams.  These pots were designed to sit permanently on a gentleman's vanity or washstand.  The wide mouth allowed a wet shaving brush to be swirled directly inside the pot to build up a thick lather.  Tiny chips on the lip of the base.  This pot has been recovered from a Victorian dig site.
