American Dentifrice Ironstone Lidded Toothpaste Pot

American Dentifrice Ironstone Lidded Toothpaste Pot

This is a rare Victorian-era ceramic toothpaste lidded pot dating to approximately 1880.  The historical significance of this piece lies in its cross-continental branding:  it highlights an early formulation developed by Dr. C.R. Coffin of the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery (the world's first dental college) but manufactured in the Staffordshire district of England by Manchester chemist William Darling.  This pot has staining and crazing.  It has been recovered from a Victorian dig site.

3 3/8" diameter, 1 1/2" tall
Weight .55 lb.

This is a vintage/antique, pre-owned item with normal wear due to its age.

Review photos and descriptions carefully. I have made every effort to accurately describe these items.
