Wigtownshire Creamery Co. Cream Pot c1912
Available is an antique Wigtownshire Creamery Co. cream pot. The Wigtownshire Creamery Co. was established in 1888 along Sheuchan Street in the coastal port town of Stranraer, Scotland. The company quickly found success mass-producing butter, cheese, and cream from thousands of regional milk cows. They packaged their premium cream into the distinctive salt-glazed stoneware jars seen today. The potter's mark on the bottom shows it was made by the Caledonian Pottery Co. in Rutherglen near Glasgow. This jar has no chips or cracks and has been recovered from a Victorian dig site.
