Prattware Lidded Pot "The First Appeal"

Prattware Lidded Pot "The First Appeal"

Available is an antique Prattware ironstone lidded pot with the scene "The First Appeal" depicted on the lid.  The quote around the edge of the lid reads "I consent she replied if you promise that no jealous rival shall laugh me to scorn".  F. & R. Pratt & Co., run by commercial driving force Felix Edward Prayy revolutionized the market by commercializing a complex method of multi-colored, underglaze transfer printing.  Working alongside the talented artist and master engraver Jesse Austin, the factory produced over 550 pictorial designs.  There is a chip on the rim of the lid and a hairline crack on the base as shown.  This pot has been recovered from a Victorian dig site.

4" diameter, 2 1/8" tall
Weight .93 lb.

This is a vintage/antique, pre-owned item with normal wear due to its age.
