Otto of Rose Cold Cream Lidded Pot
This is an English advertising pot for Otto of Rose (or Attar of Roses) Cold Cream sold by Timothy White Company Ltd Cash Chemists. Otto of Roses refers to the highly fragrant essential oil extracted from rose petals. It was a luxury skincare ingredient used to scent thick cold creams, which Victorian and Edwardian women used as a moisturizer and cleanser to protect their skin from soot and harsh weather. This lidded pot was recovered from a Victorian dump site. There is a small chip on the rim of the lid.
