This is an antique Victorian-era lidded pot advertising for J. Grossmith & Son Cherry Tooth Paste. The classic double-profile cameo motif featured on the lid is a hallmark of Grossmith's branding between 1845 and 1880. Victorian manufacturers frequently used classical Greek imagery or silhouettes mimicking Queen Victoria and Prince Albert to imply an elite, high-integrity product to the expanding British middle class. This pot has a few tiny chips on the rim of the lid as shown in the photos. This pot has been recovered from a Victorian dig site.
