English Prattware Lidded Pot "The Times" c1860-1870

Available is an English Prattware lidded pot with an illustration called "The Times" depicting a scene of Victorian domestic life.  The production technique was developed by Felix Edward Pratt and master engraver Jesse Austin.  It was made using a ground-breaking underglaze multicolor transfer printing process.  This process layered distinct colors from copper plates before glazing, ensuring the colors would never fade.  This pot has a few small chips on the rim of the lid and on the base as shown in the pictures.  It was recovered from a Victorian dig site.
