English Ironstone Scale Plate
Available is an English ironstone scale plate manufactured by William Ellis in Burslem, England around 1900. It features a black transfer print illustration representing "Justitia et Fides" (Justice and Fidelity), depicting a figure with a balance scale, a robed figure, and a lion. These plates were commonly used as platforms for antique countertop balance scales to weigh goods such as meat, dairy, or produce in Victorian-era grocery stores. There is one "flea bite" at the bottom edge of the front.

This is a vintage/antique, pre-owned item with normal wear due to its age.
