Bale's Mushroom Savoury Lidded Advertising Pot
Available is a rare Bale's Mushroom Savoury lidded advertising pot. The brown transferware lid says "Prepared From Freshly Gathered Mushrooms No Preservatives". During the late Victorian era up through the 1920s and 1930s, potted meat, fish pastes, and savory spreads were incredibly popular in Britain as a way to preserve foods indefinitely. There is staining and crazing throughout the base and lid due to being recovered from a Victorian dump site. There is a significant chip on the lid and a few small chips on the base as shown in the pictures.
