Antique Victorian Brass Figural Dog Desk Bell by William Tonks & Sons (1876)

An exceptional, investment-grade piece of 19th-century British decorative metalwork.  This rare Victorian figural desk call bell features a beautifully cast sporting/hunting dog (retriever or hound) standing upon a highly textured, naturalistic terrain base.

Mounted above the dog is a traditional dome-style reception bell.

This is not a generic Victorian piece or a modern reproduction; it is an authentic creation from one of England's most prestigious historic brass foundries.

Manufacturer:
Cast with the interlocking "WT&S" monogram on the underside of the base, identifying it as an authentic piece from William Tonks & Sons (Moseley Street Works, Birmingham, England).  Tonks & Sons was legendary for producing award-winning, premium-tier artistic brassware throughout the Victorian era.

Date of Registration:
The exterior base features a British Diamond Registration Mark (Kite Mark).  The codes within this diamond (Class I, Day 4, Month E, Year V) document that this exact design was officially registered with the UK Patent Office on May 4, 1876.

Mechanical Status:
Excellent.  The push mechanism and internal clapper function flawlessly, producing a sharp, resonant, and clear chime.

Structural Integrity:
Outstanding.  There are absolutely no cracks, deep dents, splits, or old repairs to the dog's legs, base or dome.

Finish & Patina:
The piece retains its gorgeous, untouched original antique patina.  The natural 150-year-old dark oxidation beautifully highlights the recessed textures of the grassy base, offering superb contrast against the polished highlights of the brass sculpture.  (It has been deliberately left unpolished to preserve its maximum historical and collector value).
