This is an antique S. Maw, Son & Thompson White Cherry Tooth Paste lidded advertising pot. In Victorian England, Cherry Toothpaste became a highly popular product. The word "cherry" was used strictly to describe the deep pink or reddish color of the paste. The word "White" was a marketing tactic to emphasize the product's primary benefit: whitening and bleaching the teeth. This pot has been recovered from a Victorian dig site.
