Blanchflower & Sons Home-Made Potted Meat Pot, c1885-1895

Blanchflower & Sons Home-Made Potted Meat Pot, c1885-1895

Available is an antique Blanchflower & Sons stoneware jar typically used for fish paste or potted meat.  This jar has a distinct hexagonal screw-on lid.  The business was founded by John Coleman Blanchflower, a former local chemist, and it became one of the pioneers of the region's massive fish paste and preservation industry.  The rim of the base has a chip, as shown, but the lid still screws on easily.  This jar has been recovered from a Victorian dig site.

2 3/4" diameter, 3 7/8" tall
Weight .89 lb.

This is a vintage/antique, pre-owned item with normal wear due to its age.
