Antique Wooden Sugar Firkin or Pantry Box

Antique Wooden Sugar Firkin or Pantry Box

This is an antique wooden firkin, which is also traditionally called a sugar bucket or a pantry box.  These containers were a staple in 19th-century American kitchens and pantries.  They were primarily used to keep staple dry goods like sugar, flour, salt, or cornmeal safe from pests and moisture.  This firkin has a traditional bentwood swing handle.  The lid rim has been damaged and repaired as shown.  It still displays nicely as most all of the damage is toward the back.  Condition is considered.

6 1/2" tall not including handle, 6 5/8 diameter at bottom of firkin
Weight 1.04 lb

This is a vintage/antique, pre-owned item with normal wear due to its age.

Review photos and descriptions carefully. I have made every effort to accurately describe these items.
