Antique Barrel-Style Plunger Butter Mold with Cherries Motif
Antique Barrel-Style Plunger Butter Mold with Cherries Motif
Antique barrel-style plunger butter mold featuring an intricate cherries motif—a rare find among vintage kitchen collectibles. Unlike the more common geometric stars and wheat sheaves, detailed fruit designs like these suggest European-influenced craftsmanship and skilled artistry.
Farmhouse dairies used distinctive molds like this to imprint elegant patterns onto butter pats before selling them at regional markets. The design served dual purposes: a beautiful decorative flourish and an early form of branding that helped customers identify and seek out their favorite dairy maker.
A functional piece of culinary history and a striking addition to any vintage kitchen collection. Sourced from England.
